Empowering the future of Emergency Medicine
Unleashing courage, compassion, and collaboration in Junior practitioners of Ireland
The Junior Emergency Medicine Society in Ireland - JEMS envisions a future where junior doctors in the field of Emergency Medicine are empowered, supported, and equipped with the necessary skills to excel in their careers. As a dynamic organisation created by NCHD’s for NCHD’s, our mission is to ignite an electrifying spark around the unique field of Emergency Medicine by supporting training and development, providing assistance to new doctors who have recently moved to Ireland, offering valuable teaching opportunities, and organising events that enhance professional growth.
Training, Research and Development
At JEMS, we believe that continuous training and development are essential for aspiring emergency medicine specialists to thrive. We strive to provide a platform where junior doctors can access high-quality educational resources, attend workshops and conferences and engage in research activities. By doing so, we aim to ensure that our members acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver exceptional patient care within the demanding environment of Emergency Medicine.
Presenting research in medicine is crucial as it allows for the dissemination of new knowledge, fosters collaboration among professionals, and promotes evidence-based practices.
Support for new doctors
Becoming a doctor or moving to a new country can be overwhelming for any doctor. At JEMS, we recognise the challenges faced by new doctors and those who have recently relocated to Ireland. Our society offers guidance and support through mentorship programs, networking events, and informational sessions on Irish healthcare systems and processes. By providing this assistance, we aim to facilitate a smooth transition for these doctors into their new working environment
Growth Events
JEMS hopes to organise a variety of events that are designed to enhance professional growth. These include conferences, workshops, seminars and other social events featuring renowned speakers from the field of Emergency Medicine. Our events hope to provide an opportunity for networking among junior doctors as well as collaborations with senior consultants. By facilitating such interactions, JEMS strives to create a supportive community where knowledge is shared and professional relationships are fostered.
Collaboration and teaching opportunities
We believe that teaching is not only an act of giving back but also a powerful tool for personal growth. JEMS provides valuable teaching opportunities for junior doctors interested in enhancing their teaching skills. Through our teaching programs, members can engage in medical student education, mentorship of junior colleagues, and the delivery of educational sessions at both local and national levels. By fostering a culture of active teaching, we aim to cultivate future leaders and educators in Emergency Medicine.
JEMS aims to foster connections among like-minded individuals, creating a network where members can share ideas, collaborate on projects, and build relationships with colleagues across different institutions.
‘‘We believe that by embracing these principles, we can shape a vibrant community of aspiring emergency medicine specialists who will make positive contributions to patient care in Ireland.’’
— Dr Nancy K Brulinska, founder of JEMS
